Which states block GLP-1 orders at checkout?
Last updated May 28, 2026
Bioveris enforces a per-SKU, per-state allowlist for compounded GLP-1 receptor agonists. Some states have explicit compounding restrictions or active pharmacy-board enforcement; checkout blocks the order if the destination state is on the per-product restricted list.
Blocked states
| SKU | Blocked destination states |
|---|---|
| Semaglutide | CA, NY, MS, LA, TN |
| Tirzepatide | CA, NY, MS, LA, TN |
| Triple Agonist (GLP-3RT) | CA, NY, MS, LA, TN, TX, FL |
Triple Agonist carries the broadest restriction because the underlying compound (the triple GLP-1 / GIP / glucagon receptor agonist commonly known as retatrutide) is an FDA-recognized investigational compound — per April 2026 FDA guidance, it cannot be routinely compounded.
Why these states
- FDA, April 1 2026. Tirzepatide and semaglutide do not appear on the 503B bulks list or on FDA's drug-shortage list. 503B outsourcing facilities cannot currently compound them. 503A pharmacies can compound on a per-patient prescription subject to "essentially a copy" rules with a 4-prescriptions-per-month safe harbor.
- Health Law Alliance, Jan 2026. FDA issued 50+ Warning Letters in September 2025 to peptide sellers using "research use only" labeling with human-use advertising. The same article confirms the triple-receptor agonist cannot be compounded at all.
- State-specific guidance. California (AB 1503 + Cal Board "Essentially a Copy" rules adopted June 17 2025), New York (NYS Board of Pharmacy office-stock prohibition + 503A-compliant prescription requirement), Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee have taken visible action on certain peptide categories.
What happens at checkout
When a destination state matches a SKUs restricted list, the order is blocked with an on-screen explanation before payment is collected. You will see a banner identifying which SKU triggered the block. Two options:
